I received a prerelease e-copy of this book through NetGalley (publication date December 2, 2014) with the expectation that I will post a review on their site and others (my blog, Goodreads, Facebook, Google +, LinkedIn, Twitter, Amazon, etc.).
This book was sent to me by the publisher and is the first that I have read by the author. I will give you my opinions on this book without giving away the substance of the book. I hate it when reviewers do that and if I read the review first I tend not to read it.
The book started out well and the first half of it remained that way. It focused on the differences between naturals, clones and genetically modified humans. The second half of the book was a huge disappointment.
In the future, smoking has made a strong resurgence with everyone doing it. Sex with underage individuals appears to be the norm. The attempted rape scene was nothing short of disgusting. A good science fiction start evolved into a less than stimulating murder mystery.
I waffled between giving this book one or two stars. I went with two stars due to the first half. I do not recommend this book to anyone who is a true science fiction or murder mystery fan. Parts of it may appeal to those who have a voyeuristic streak.
