Unlocking Potential: 7 Coaching Skills That Transform Individuals, Teams & Organizations

Unlocking Potential

I was given this book by Michael K. Simpson to review as part of the 12 Books Group with the expectation that I would participate in the discussion on Goodreads and post a review to Goodreads, my blog, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google + and Amazon.

I found this book to be a very good synopsis of the essential skills needed to be an effective coach – whether for individuals or an organization. It is to the point and a quick read.

The author provides numerous questions that can be utilized for each of the skill sets and also provides detailed notes at the end of the book for those who want to delve more deeply into each of the skills outlined. One book not mentioned that I feel would also be helpful to reac is “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg.

I particularly enjoyed the last chapter on organization coaching and the process that the author outlined.

I recommend this book to anyone who is responsible for coaching individuals and doesn’t have a great deal of time to spend on learning from multiple sources in the short-term.
